MetaTrader 4/5 FAQ

Last updated on October 7, 2026

1. What is the difference between MT4 and MT5?

MT4 is primarily designed for forex trading, while MT5 offers access to a wider range of financial instruments, along with improved speed and functionality.
  • MT5 offers advanced features such as multiple positions, an economic calendar, smart orders, and Depth of Market (DOM).
  • Either platform can be linked to the same account; however, MT4 and MT5 are not compatible with each other.

2. Where can I download MT4/MT5?

  • Desktop: Download and install the platform from the website or via the link provided in your email.
  • Mobile: Search for MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 on the App Store or Google Play, then install the app.

3. How do I log in?

  1. Launch the platform after installation.
  2. Click [File] → [Login to Trade Account].
  3. Enter the credentials provided when you opened your account: your login ID (account number), password, and server name. Then log in.
📌 You can find your server name in your email or under [My Accounts].

4. How can I change my password?

You can only change your trading password within MT4/MT5.
  • Alternatively, go to [My Accounts] to reset the password for the relevant trading account.

5. Why can’t I connect to the server? I see an “Invalid Account” message.

  • Double-check that your login details—account number, password, and server name—are correct.
  • Make sure you have selected the correct server. Selecting the wrong server will prevent you from connecting.
  • MT4 and MT5 are not compatible with each other, so you must use the platform that matches your trading account.

6. Why is the chart time different from Korean Standard Time?

The default time zone for MT4/MT5 is GMT+2, or GMT+3 when daylight saving time is in effect.
This is 6–7 hours behind Korean Standard Time (KST) because chart times follow the trading server’s time zone.

7. Why am I receiving slippage notifications or order execution errors?

  • During periods of high volatility, such as major news releases or market openings, prices may move quickly, and your order may not be filled at the requested price.
  • This can result in slippage or an order being rejected. These events can occur as part of normal market operation.

8. Can I hedge on MT5?

Yes. If you select a hedging account type, MT5 allows you to hold positions in opposite directions on the same instrument.

9. Can I open a demo account?

Yes. You can open a demo account directly within MT4/MT5 or through the website.
The demo trading environment closely resembles live trading and is useful for practising trades and testing strategies.
